More About My Art

As I mentioned on my Home Page, for as long as I can remember, I have always loved to draw, paint and create. My mother was an artist and would sit with me for hours sketching horses. She died when I was 5 years old and my younger sister and I were raised by our grandparents in the small west Texas town of Breckenridge. We spent many of our summers and holidays on our great grandmother's ranch. This is where my love for the Western Lifestyle and my love for cattle began. I would spend hours on the floor with scissors and stacks of 'The Cattleman' magazines, cutting out cows, barns, and fences, building my 'paper ranch'. No paper dolls for this girl! The most cherished memories of my childhood are the ones spent on the ranch. That is where my dream of one day becoming an artist began. I have always been encouraged by my family and friends to pursue art and for that I am very thankful. During the years of raising our daughter, I worked different places, mostly in the insurance industry, with my last employer being the phone company. No matter what 'job' my hands were doing, I was always painting or creating in my mind. I am not able to control it. I was born to create. About 20 years ago, I left the corporate world to start a mural and faux finishing business and 8 years ago, I realized it is time to take myself more serious as an artist and pursue my passion of Oil Painting. I have not looked back and am looking forward to the adventure. I have no 'Plan B' and can't wait to experience what's in store for the future. I will paint, teach and encourage others to paint as long as there is breath in me, and as time allows, will explore more subject matter. For now, I am happy with cows. There will always be cows. We moved from the DFW area about 8 years ago and have recently opened my Studio / Gallery where I sell my Art, teach lessons, host paint parties and sell Art related merchandise in our Gift Shop. I hope you Love my Art as much as I Love Painting it. Please follow me on my Social Media and subscribe to this site. Thank You visiting!  Becky
