Fine artist Becky Hicks - official portrait

Hi, I'm Becky

For as long as I can remember, I have always loved to draw, paint, explore and create. Many hours of my childhood were spent coloring, drawing, and painting pictures. I was raised by my grandparents, and we owned a small boot store on our property, where we sold new and used cowboy boots. My job was cleaning and touching up the used boots with paint to help them look more presentable. My grandparents were very supportive of my creativity and paid for private art lessons for me through high school. My family owned a ranch, and I spent most of my summers and holidays out there. Those early Western lifestyle influences have followed me through adulthood and greatly influenced the art I create. I strive to capture the essence of my subject with the play of color and light. I mostly work in oils but also enjoy painting in watercolor. It is my desire that my art will take the viewer to a pleasant place in their soul and that they will want to stay there for a while…. a long while.

Step on in and look around. You can view my full gallery of original Western Art and Native American Art paintings here. You may happen upon the perfect piece that speaks to you as deeply as it does to me. If you would like to learn more about my artistic journey and inspirations, read my full story.

Cattleman's Magazine cover featuring Becky Hicks' Western art painting

"The Cattleman" magazine is published monthly by the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) and is received monthly by TSCRA members as part of their membership in the organization. My painting, "Gold in the Morning Son", was featured on its cover of the August 2016 issue. Hereford has always been my favorite breed of cattle. Their beautiful red and white coats are so easy on the eyes in all the seasons, making them one of my favorite subjects to paint. Many hours of my childhood were spent thumbing through the pages of The Cattleman magazine and it was quite an honor to see my work on its cover.
